Mghila
My parents met my host family and we watched 3 hours of my host sister Iman’s wedding video and looked through about 500 photos. Ate some wedding food – tea, coffee, and cookies followed by roasted chicken with olives and lamb with prunes for dinner and a fruit platter for dessert. Also, my host uncle explained to everyone that it cost my parents 1 million dirhams to get to morocco, when we corrected him with the actual price he seemed really disappointed lol

Meknes
We stayed in Meknes for two days and my friend Gussie came to hang out with us. We were really getting into the culture by eating at the hotel, pizza hut and mcdonalds lol but in actual cultural activities we saw the bab mansour, which is HUGE and we went to Volubilis - the old capital of the Roman province of Mauritana where olive oil, wheat and wild animals (elephants, lions, and bears) for the Colosseum were exported to Rome.

Rabat
We were only in Rabat for a day but I made everyone go to Chellah – which was a neighboring town that is now within Rabat and was founded by the Phoenicians and was also a Roman town. As well as a muesum and we ended the day with shopping!

Casablanca
In Casablanca we went to the Hassan II mosque which is the third largest mosque in the world and the largest outside of Saudi Arabia. 1/3 of the mosque is on the water because of the koranic verse “The Throne of God was on water”. We also went to this seafront line of restaurants for lunch/dinner and then we stopped by Rick's cafe.

I love your ridiculous pants, haha. And those Roman ruins were sooo cool, and you got such amazing pictures of them with that sunlight! I wish I could identify that mosaic figure, but I can't really get anything from it... did you get my box of goodies yet?
ReplyDeletelove you!
ps: i like the facts about those mosques and cities, i feel like i know some stuff about your area now, haha.
